Infosys Sample Interview Questions and Tips to Clear the Interview

Problems from “Time and Work” have become very common in Infosys placement papers and interviews. Generally these problems are very easy to solve. For example, consider the question below.

Example question 1:

Two and a half artists with 2 and a half canvases in two and a half hours can paint two and a half paintings. How many artists are needed for 24 canvases and 24 paintings in 24 hours?

Solution:

A 2 and a half artist has 2 and a half canvases so 1artist has 1 canvas

2 artists can work in 2.5 hr to make a painting of 2.5. This relationship can be expressed as,

1 artist: 1.25 hour: 1.25 painting = 4:5:5

The question is to find the number of artists who will paint 24 paintings on 24 canvases.

Increasing the values in the ratio of 4: 5: 5 equally we can arrive at the answer of 24 artists.

“Distance and speed” is another important section where one can expect questions. Let’s see an example question.

Example question 2:

2) A thief can run 20km a day. A policeman who is going to catch a thief may run 1km on the first day, 2km on the 2nd day and so on. So how long will it take the police to catch the thief?

Solution:

Let it be n no. the number of days it takes a policeman to catch a thief. Then in the problem statement we can arrive at the equation, 1+2+3….+n = 20*n. The left half of the equation is nothing but the sum of the natural numbers “n”. This can be rewritten using the mathematical formula n (n + 1)/2. Hence the above equation becomes n (n+1)/2=20*n

In solving the above equation we can get two possible numbers, either n=0 or n=39. However, since in = 0 can only be a theoretical solution, the correct answer would be n = 39. The police can catch the thief in 39 days.

In addition to questions from basic mathematics one can expect puzzle type technical questions as well. You can use Ravi narula, George summer and Sakunthala devi books to solve the puzzles.

In the speech section there may be synonyms, cognates, sentence structure/correction, etc. You must have a good vocabulary and knowledge of grammar to clear this section. This section is generally easier than it should be.

Technical interview will be followed by HR interview.

The basic questions one can expect in an HR interview are these

1) Tell us something about yourself.

2) What value will you bring to the company?

2) You look so different in the photo than in person, why?

3) Tell us something about your final year college project?

4) How did you enjoy your college life?

5) Will you be willing to relocate if necessary?

Generally panelists can expect confident answers. If you can’t answer a few questions, just speak up and say what you don’t know or remember.
