How To Get Rid Of Clogged Pores In 6 Simple Steps

We all know that clogged pores are inevitable. But, if we make some changes in our skin care routine, the clogged pores will be greatly reduced. Clogged pores are the root cause of many skin problems especially enlarged pores. When your pores are clogged with oil residue, dead skin cells and dirt, your pores will be stretched and therefore large pores appear on the face. On the other hand, if every pore on your skin is clean and empty, the appearance of pores will not be visible and your skin will look much cleaner! So, it is very important to maintain the following steps daily to ensure that you maintain a good appearance before you can tighten the pores.

Step 1 – Remove your makeup / sunscreen

Practice this step even if you only have sunscreen on your face. Skincare products with SPF such as BB creams, tinted lotions and sunscreens are often waterproof and sweaty. So, it can be difficult to wash thoroughly with just a regular face wash.

Try using oil-based makeup removers. Cleansing oils aren’t just great for removing waterproof makeup; they are also very effective at lifting oil residue and dirt from your pores. Try not to use a cotton pad on oil cleansers. Instead, use your fingers to gently massage the face with a moisturizing oil remover, and then wash off with lukewarm water.

Step 2 – Wash your face

Pores look enlarged and more visible if they are clogged with dirt and oil. Grit and grime will enlarge the pores and make them look larger. So, washing your face is the most important step in your daily regimen. Use a gentle cleanser if you have sensitive skin, a foaming cleanser if you have oily skin and oil/non-foaming cleansers if you have dry skin. For acne-prone skin, you may want to use a cleanser that has anti-bacterial ingredients in it.

Step 3 – Massage your face to open the pores

Use a face steamer if you have one at home. If not, follow the steps below:-

Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil on the stove. When steam begins to appear, remove the pot from the heat.

You can add a few drops of essential oil to hot water for relaxation or tea tree oil if you suffer from acne.

Place a towel over your head and lean over the boiling water. Place a towel over your shoulders and the pot so that the steam is directed at your face. Let it steam for about 5-10 minutes.

Step 4 – Peel off your skin

While the pores are open now, it’s the perfect time to get into the pores and get rid of stubborn dirt, dead skin cells and oil residues that cleansing alone can’t remove. There is a daily method and a weekly method of withdrawal that I recommend you use.

Method 1 – Brushing the face

Brushing your face properly opens up the pores in your skin. This is something that can be done every day. This method is very effective in removing dead skin cells, enhancing blood circulation, enhancing lymphatic drainage and most importantly removing toxins. You can use it with a facial cleanser or just as a dry skin brush. Remember to choose a facial brush with soft but firm bristles.

Note: To begin with, it is recommended that you try to brush your face 3 times a week. Only after your skin is used to this method, you can do this once every day.

Method 2 – Use face scrubs

Facial scrubs contain particles/beads in gel and cream that help exfoliate dead skin cells and remove pore impurities. This will help increase the absorption of all the skin care you use on your skin. Facial scrubs are readily available at any beauty and drug store. However, I prefer homemade products as they are made from 100% natural ingredients and I will know what I am putting on my skin. Well the best reason is that homemade ones cost a fraction of the retail price and the ingredients are easily available in our kitchen! My favorite recipe would be the following:-

Baking Soda Face Scrub

Ingredients – 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water

Directions – Add water to baking soda and mix well until a smooth dough is formed. Apply the paste on your face and gently massage the face. Avoid the eye area. Rinse with water.

The result – Instantly smooth and radiant skin!

Step 5 – Make a Deep Cleansing Face Mask

There are many types of face masks out there that cater to different needs. However, in order to properly clean our pores, we need to do a deep cleansing mask regularly. This type of mask is easily available in health and beauty stores but you can make your own. I highly recommend clay masks and exfoliating masks as they work by drawing out dirt that clogs pores.

Try my Black Deep Cleansing Mask that uses clay and activated charcoal as the main ingredient. The recipe is very effective in keeping the skin clear because the activated charcoal used will help remove impurities and toxins from the skin. Green clay is another great ingredient that not only absorbs toxins, it will help draw out blackheads and clean your pores.

Deep Cleansing Black Mask for Home

Ingredients:-

2 capsules of activated carbon (remove the capsule and pour black powder)

½ teaspoon green clay

1 teaspoon of water

Directions:-

1) Mix all the ingredients together to make a smooth dough.

2) Apply to the face. Avoid the eye area.

3) Let it dry and then wash with cold water.

Note: Please make sure you mix the mixture with a plastic or wooden spoon, as both charcoal and clay attract toxins to the metals.

Step 6 – Rinse with cold water

Complete your regimen by splashing your face with cold water. You can use ice cubes to shrink large pores. It’s a quick remedy that can be used before applying your makeup. This will instantly reduce the size of open pores and help leave the skin looking smooth and prevent makeup from entering large pores thus reducing the risk of clogged pores, acne, and infection. Take ice cubes, wrap them in a cloth, and apply them to your face with gentle pressure. This will affect the firmness of your skin.
