Essential Oils – Lip Balm Recipes – Smacking Good For Healthy Lips

The easiest way to make a lip balm with your choice of essential oils, is to simply heat up your favorite balm (with all those pure natural ingredients) and add a few drops of therapeutic essential oils. For example, take about a tablespoonful of beeswax type lip balm, put the container in some warm water until it softens, then add 2 drops of Melissa, 1 drop of Tree Tree and 1 drop of Spearmint essential oil. . Stir well with a toothpick. This formula is a wonderful remedy for cold sores. It tastes good, too.

Perfumes make great gifts. You can experiment with different combinations. Check with your aromatherapist for specific essential oils for your unique needs.

If you want to make your own, here’s an awesome one recipe for chapped, dry or sore lips What I have used successfully:

  • 1 tablespoon of beeswax
  • 2 tablespoons of castor oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 Vitamin E capsule
  • 2 drops of sesame oil
  • 2 drops of sandalwood essential oil
  • 2 drops of myrrh essential oil

Melt the beeswax in the top pan of a double boiler over low heat. Stir in the castor oil and honey until you have a thick liquid, then remove from the heat. Cut off the end of the vitamin E capsule, and add the gel from the capsule to the mixture. When cool, add essential oil for treatment. Mix well, and then pour into small storage bottles. Be sure to create labels that contain ingredients and directions for use. Directions: Smooth lightly on lips as needed. Warning: do not use morer during pregnancy. (Just leave it at that).

Because lip balm, the ratio you need is 2:1 for solids. The honey is solid and all the other ingredients are liquid. I like to use castor oil because it gives a nice gloss to the mouth. Honey adds a little sweetener, and vitamin E contains antioxidants and will extend the shelf life of your balm. The essential oils listed are all known for their healing properties. In particular, more is famous for taking care of the mouth.
