The Use of Moxa For Shingle Pain

I have been studying Chinese Medicine—acupuncture—and found that it has contributed to the well-being of my family, friends and clients.

The use of moxa for minor ailments has been found to be very effective in relieving the body of local discomfort.

What is Moxa?

Moxa is the use of wool from the chrysanthemum family – artemisia vulgaris – made into a cylinder shaped like a cigar or pressed into cones of different sizes that are lit and slightly burned to release steam and heat that can benefit certain health issues. Unlike acupuncture, it is completely non-invasive and works like a heat pack but is more localized.

Here it is useful to mention that artemisia annua is also used for medicinal purposes – generally called ‘artemisinin’, it is very useful for viral attacks such as cold and flu. As a culture we have become accustomed to ready-made pills (in fact they are ready-made for anything) – that is wrong as we have handed over the responsibility of health to someone else. Treatment

Moxa Treatment Overview
