For example, you may only want to extract the first word from a cell that contains a person’s first and last name. In this tutorial I will show you how to convert the text and in particular, I will show you the best ways to remove the first 4 letters in Excel using the following functions:

1) Excel Work OK

2) MID function for Excel

3) Excel CHANGE Function

Using the Excel function FIT

In this example I want to remove the first 4 characters from the postcode CV36 7BL and leave the last 3 characters. Let’s assume that the postal code is in cell A2 in the Excel spreadsheet. The formula in cell B2 would be:

=OK(A2,LEN(A2)-4)
