## Calculus – Derivatives

The Derivative is a fundamental concept of Calculus and is known for its many uses in higher Mathematics. The derivative of a function at a point can be defined in two different ways: geometrical and physical. Geometrically, the derivative of a function for a given variable value of its input is the slope of the tangent line to its graph at a given point. It can be found by using the slope formula or if given a graph, by drawing straight lines from the input value under question. If the graph does not break or jump at that point, then it is simply the value of y that corresponds to the value of x given. In Physics, the derivative is defined as a physical change. It refers to the instantaneous rate of change in the velocity of an object in about the shortest possible time it takes to travel a given distance. Relatedly, the derivative of a function in a Mathematical view refers to the rate of change of the value of the output variable as the value of the corresponding input variable approaches zero. In other words, if the two carefully selected values are very close to the given area under question, the derivative of the work in the research area is the quotient of the difference between the output values and the corresponding input values, as the denominator approaches. to zero (0).

More precisely, the derivative of a function is a measure of how the function changes in relation to changes in the values of its input (independent) variable. To find the derivative of a function at a given point, do the following steps:

1. Select two numbers, closest to the given point, one from the left and one from the right.

2. Solve for the corresponding product values or y values.

3. Compare the two numbers.

4. If two numbers are the same or will be almost equal to the same number, then the function is output for that specific value of x (input variable).

5. Using the table of values, if the y values at the points on the right side of the x value in question are nearly equal to the y values that approach the y values that correspond to the selected input value on the left side of x. The approximate value is derived from the performance at x.

6. Algebraically we can look at the derivative function first by taking the limit of the difference quotient formula as the denominator approaches zero. Use the derived function to find the derivative by replacing the input variable with the given value of x.
